Tuesday, March 31 during 2nd period

On Tuesday, March 31st during 2nd period, all students in grades 6-11 will take the school climate survey for the Maryland State Department of Education. Students taking classes at other WCPS schools will take the climate at that school but will answer the questions about the home school. This feedback from students is important to our school and our school’s report card to the state providing feedback on learning environment, climate, and safety, so please encourage your child to take this seriously, read carefully and answer honestly while sharing our love for MMHS. The survey is confidential, and school personnel will not have access to the responses of specific students. The responses your child provides will be combined with the responses from other students in the school, and results will be reported for each school and district. Additional information can be found in our student slides, county climate survey letter and at Maryland School Survey website.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are pleased to announce an exciting new course request process for the 2026–2027 school year for all secondary schools.
Beginning March 25, students and parents/guardians will be able to log into Family Portal to view teacher recommendations for the upcoming school year and submit course requests. Course selections are based on established prerequisites and grade-level requirements. Please review the attached instructions and brief video to assist you with this process.
Course Request Window: March 25 through April 8
After April 8, school counselors will meet individually with students to review submitted requests or assist students who did not complete the online process. Families are encouraged to review teacher recommendations carefully and read all information provided on each tab in Family Portal to ensure informed course selections.
If you have questions, please contact your student’s school counselor.
Important Information:
Course selections are requests only. Final course assignments depend on course availability, scheduling constraints, and graduation requirements.
Student schedules will be released during each school’s Open House at the end of August.
Please make selections thoughtfully, as schedule changes for the spring semester are unlikely.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your student’s academic planning and success.

Congratulations to our 2026 Carson Scholars!
We are thrilled to celebrate Bella Campbell, who has been selected as a 2026 Carson Scholar, and Andrew Yates, who has earned a renewal of his Carson Scholar designation! The Carson Scholars Fund recognizes students who exemplify the highest standards of academic excellence and community service. Each year, only a select group of students nationwide receive this prestigious honor, making Bella’s achievement and Andrew’s continued distinction truly remarkable. Carson Scholars are celebrated not only for outstanding academic performance, but also for their dedication to making a positive impact in their communities.
Please join us in applauding Bella and Andrew for earning one of the most esteemed academic and character-based awards in the country. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, leadership, and commitment to excellence!
